First Acts

First Acts focuses on programming for children with serious and advanced illness. Medically challenged children need and deserve our creative support. Through creative arts, children can have an outlet for their thoughts and feelings.  Children express vitality and purpose naturally, in their daily activities. They have a clear focus on the importance of the present moment, and we hope to convey some of their wisdom through these projects.

As a part of our legacy building efforts, TFAP is currently meeting with several publishing houses in Austin and San Antonio in hopes of creating chapter books for children and their families. Our goal of the First Acts Writing Program is to bring writers into the lives of children to help them tell their stories, and then to help them get published.  Badgerdog Publications in Austin has agreed to collaborate on this project.

TFAP is also creating a variety of artistic opportunities for First Acts. Our Time Capsule exhibits will be co-created by children and their families and will be the focus of one of our most important arts programs for young kids. The value of helping children create their unique legacy, for themselves, their families and future generations, is beyond measure.
